The issue of solid waste is a concern across all sectors, including education. Our challenges involve institutional behavioral changes, addressing cultural paradigms, and the need for innovation and commitment to implementing the 5Rs: Rethink, Refuse, Recycle, Reduce, and Reuse.
At Centro Universitário Facens, we strive to minimize waste generation and implement sustainable management practices such as reduction, reuse, recycling, and composting. We continually seek to improve our processes, encouraging awareness and participation from the university community in sustainable waste management.
Throughout 2023, we organized 7 events and posted 30 articles on the Facens Blog to raise awareness in our community about the issue of solid waste.
Since 2022, we've taken steps to reduce paper consumption at Smart Campus® Facens. We prioritize using the virtual learning platform for assessments, assignment submissions, and e-books in our courses.
As a result, we've achieved an 80% reduction in paper consumption in academic activities.
In 2023, we continued our efforts to eliminate plastic usage at Smart Campus® Facens. We use biodegradable plastic bags and have replaced plastic cups and straws with paper alternatives.
